Privacy by Default, Data by Choice
Azul is built on the principle that privacy should be the default, not an option. We believe you should control your data, not the other way around.
Three Privacy Modes
Blind Mode (Default)
No data leaves your device. All lookups happen locally against a synced database. We have no idea what websites you visit.
Community Mode (Opt-in)
Contribute anonymized usage data to improve our database. Domains are hashed (SHA-256) before transmission. You cannot be identified.
Enterprise Mode (Organizational)
Organizations can enable aggregated analytics for their team. Individual browsing is never tracked; only organization-wide patterns are visible.
What We Collect
Depending on your privacy mode:
- Blind Mode: Nothing. Zero. Nada.
- Community Mode: SHA-256 hashed domain names, sovereignty scores viewed, no timestamps.
- Enterprise Mode: Aggregated team statistics, no individual user data.
- Account Data: Email, name (if provided), organization (if applicable).
AI & LLM Providers
Azul uses AI/LLM services for automated company analysis (Azulado AI agent). No user browsing data or personal information is sent to these providers. Only company-related public data (e.g., company names, public website content) is processed.
The following providers may be used:
- Mistral AI (France, EU) — Primary provider, EU-sovereign
- Ollama (Self-hosted, EU) — Self-hosted models on EU infrastructure
- OpenAI (United States) — Fallback provider
- Anthropic (United States) — Fallback provider
- Google Gemini (United States) — Fallback provider
EU-sovereign providers (Mistral, Ollama) are preferred. Non-EU providers are only used as fallbacks when EU providers are unavailable. We never send personal user data to any LLM provider.
Your Rights (GDPR)
You have the right to:
- Access your data
- Export your data in machine-readable format
- Delete your account and all associated data
- Withdraw consent at any time
- Lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority
Data Location
All Azul data is stored and processed within the European Union. We use EU-based cloud providers that comply with GDPR.
